May 6 Update

Offer letters and player evaluations - the HSA Select Committee sent out offer letters between May 6th-8th to everyone with whom we have previous playing experience. New players who will be required to go through a player evaluation will be notified by May 9th and will participate in a physical tryout once we can meet on the field. Please watch for one of these two emails and pay attention to the information provided for next steps for your player.

New U11 teams: since these teams (made up of Birth Year 2010 and 2011 players) are being formed for the first time, no offers will be given until we can hold a tryout. We will conduct on-field player evaluations (normal tryout format) and will inform all players of the dates, time, and location once we can meet on the field. In the meantime, please register for tryouts (no fee) and we'll keep you informed of tryout dates.

2020 Tryouts

We are revising our usual tryouts process due to COVID-19

This year we are implementing an alternative player placement process. Players who were registered with HSA Select for the 2019-20 season will be welcomed back to their previous team, providing we have a viable team for them, so families can avoid the sometimes-stressful tryouts process. We've waived all tryouts registration fees for U11-U17, but you must be registered by April 30th in order to be placed on a team.

How will players be placed on a team next season?

We are asking all returning players to register for tryouts/placement process as a way to communicate interest in returning to HSA Select for the 2020-21 season. We've waived all tryouts registration fees for U11-U17, but you must be registered by April 30th in order to be placed on a team. (Note: the HS Boys tryouts, U15 and older, were completed in February.)

How will current players be placed on a team?

Coaches, the Director of Coaching and the select committee will organize players on teams based on their team last year. There may be some movement up and down based on last year's player performance, but minimal. Initial placement rosters will be decided around May 4th and players will be notified.

What if I am a new player to HSA Select?

New players can also register for this new tryouts/placement process and will be considered for teams with open roster spots beginning May 5th once we have placed current players. This may involve a player assessment during a team training. Player assessment for players new to HSA Select will take place as soon as stay at home orders are lifted and we're able to safely get out on fields in small groups.

If you have questions about a specific team, please contact the Head Coach or send us a message ([email protected]).

How will the new U11 teams be formed?

New U11 teams (the youngest age group HSA Select teams are formed) for Birth Year 2010 players will be formed using our "normal" tryouts process, once we can hold tryouts on fields. Birth Year 2011 players can also register to play up for U11 tryouts, but must demonstrate they can be a starter on that team to be accepted.

We will post tryout dates once we have access to fields and it is safe to conduct tryouts. In the meantime, please register for tryouts (no fee) and we'll keep you informed of tryout dates.

When should players accept their spot? How much is the program fee?

Selected players must register by May 15th** and pay the full amount, or opt for a payment plan of the $150 commitment fee, with further installments ($100 each) due July 1st, August 1st, and September 1st to equal the total program fees of $450.

We don't know for certain when or how soccer programs will restart in our state, but HSA Select is prepared to start June 1st. We will have to remain flexible, but HSA Select will be able to start shortly after our government officials and medical professionals let us know it's safe to do so, and we will adhere to any recommended guidelines.

**The commitment fee deadline for U11 teams (Birth Year 2010) will be on a later timeline, depending on when we form these teams.

Is there Financial Assistance for the Program Fee?

We do offer Financial Assistance to those who are placed on teams (and accept an offer). Please download the form HERE and submit by May 31. Financial assistance is announced June 1 (or shortly afterwards).

NOTE: depending on when U11 teams are formed, the deadline for families on U11 teams would be extended.

Soccer Age Chart

Teams are formed by birth year. Refer to the soccer age chart.

Our youngest teams are U11. We allow those in the U10 age group to try out for U11 teams.

Hi Parents - we know having your kids try out for a select program is a big and sometimes scary jump from recreational soccer. Please read the documents and article below to answer some of your questions. The Select Committee will also be available during tryouts for other questions you may have.
