Each year the Highline Soccer Association (HSA) recognizes the teams that finish first or second in their respective divisions during league play the preceding Fall Season at a special Awards Night Celebration.

HSA Select Night

Come join HSA Select and cheer on the Sounders as they take on their Portland rivals for Decision Day! With playoff implications on the line, Seattle and Portland will be battling for important playoff positioning on the last match of the season and need all your support.  It promises to be a high-energy, unforgettable game!

Gates open at 4:30pm, with kickoff at 6:00pm

Free COPA '71 Documentary Screening

Women's World Cup 1971 - wait, what? never heard of it?  It's because FIFA wouldn't allow it - 'Women's bodies are for having babies, not playing soccer!"  Mexico City hosted the event, and teams came from all over.  100,000 fans were there to watch.  Players stepped off their planes to be treated like super stars - and were blown away!  Venues and promoters made $$$, while players made $0.  After all said and done, players returned home to find they were banded from playing, teams broke up, footage vaulted away, even the Trophy Cup was never to be seen again.  Interviews from players along with a historian bring this true event back to life thanks to Directors, Rachel Ramsay and James Erskine and Executive Producers, Serena and Venus Williams and Alex Morgan.  Such an important documentary for all to see!  This is a free event hosted by HSA and The Historic Admiral Theater.

Run time 1 1/2hrs, rated NR - suitable for the whole family but note there are subtitles. Showing starts promptly at 10am so come early to purchase your refreshments and find seats.

Todd Veenhuizen (Asst coach for WS Junction FC, Eastside FC coach and former WSHS Girls Varsity coach with a USSF B License) hosted a training session for HSA Select (and WSSC) coaches at Sealth Stadium. Topic was "Building out of the back" and players from our B10 and B11 teams participated.

Back to School drive benefitting Treehouse

As part of our commitment at HSA to giving back to our community we will be hosting several community service events throughout the season. Our first event will be a backpack/school supply drive benefitting Treehouse. This drive will run August 1-16 and all items will be dropped off at Treehouse on August 18.

Treehouse supports youth in foster care throughout Washington through programs that provide material needs like clothing and school supplies, fund extracurricular and school activities, and provide individualized coaching and support for academic success and the transition to adult independence. The start of a new school year can be a particularly challenging time for youth in foster care, many of whom are starting the year in a new city or school. This back to school season, Treehouse will work with thousands of youth across the state, providing high quality school supplies, clothing, and identity-developing experiences that every youth deserves. Treehouse is in urgent need of backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming year, so this is what we will focus on.

Please have all items collected and ready for pick up sometime the week of August 12th - all items must be picked up by August 16. Pick up can be coordinated with Ashley (contact info: cell 206-228-7204, email [email protected]). Please direct any questions or concerns to Ashley.

HSA Select 4v4 Jamboree

August 7, 5-8pm

A Sign Up Genius is being sent to Team Coaches and Admins. Team families are asked to bring a dinner item to share (pizza and drinks provided by HSA Select).

Schedule
5pm – Players arrive at Delridge North and pick up reversible pinnie.
5:15pm - review rules and organize teams
5:30pm – Game #1
5:55pm – Game #2
6:20pm – Game #3
6:45pm – Group photo and promote August 25 Reign game
                      RAFFLE (each player gets a ticket): Reign game tickets, HSA Select soccer balls, mini balls, apparel
7:00pm – Dinner (order pizza and drinks)
7:15pm – Coaches game (25 mins) and open field time, set up goal target (east goal)

WS Junction FC vs. Midlakes United

Join us for the HSA Select Night at the July 12th game for the West Seattle Junction FC pre-professional soccer team. This is a great team bonding event and an opportunity to watch good quality soccer right in our backyard.

Coach Erik Oman boasts a 15-year collegiate coaching career and has roots in Seattle dating back to 1994. He has served as League Technical Director for the Washington Premier League (WPL), the Academy Director for the WPL Academy, a Match Evaluator for MLS, and more, before taking on the role of head coach of WS Junction FC.  He also has led both US Soccer and United Soccer Coaching (USC) clinics for many years.

Erik will share his philosophy on coaching, how he works with players, effective drills for game situations and how he adjusts from game to game.
