In our region, the most likely source of reduced air quality is wildfire smoke, with wildfires typically occurring in warmer drier months of summer.
To help ensure player safety, HSA Select is providing guidance to club members when to continue with practices and games.
When the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches 151 (or higher), the Club recommends cancelling outdoor activities and we recommend the PSCAA - Current Air Quality Map for source data.
The Club recognizes that individual players, families, and volunteers may have lower tolerances for airborne particulates than others and every club member should make a decision based on the well-being of their individual child and themselves. An image from Air Now is provided below for guidance.
Forecasting AQI is challenging as air quality is localized and highly variable. When cancelling activities, please inform relevant parties as soon as possible, ideally at least 1.5 hours before the event.
Coaches: If the event is a game, please inform your opposing coach as early as possible as well as the HSA Game Scheduler.
Coach and team manager contact info is available via the North Puget Sound League (NPSL) Schedule page when you click on their name (in the standings) for your match.
